Clear float glass is the foundation of every magnificent glass project. It can be processed in every way imaginable and is often used as the base glass for an entire range of glass products, including coatings, mirrors, back-painted glass, acid-etched glass, and more.
Clear

Easy to process
During the float glass manufacturing process, raw materials are melted to form a hot glass ribbon, which is then cooled in a controlled manner to introduce a uniform stress distribution in the annealed glass. An optimal annealing process helps ensure that float glass can be cut easily during further processing.
Durability
Float glass can withstand use over time and can be recycled an unlimited number of times. Cullet (broken or recycled glass) is one of the raw materials used in the production of float glass. After going through the mineralization process, cullet reduces the energy required to heat the raw material mixture to a molten state, while helping to reduce the amount of natural raw material required to produce the same volume of glass.
Multiple design options
Float glass is the basis for many other technologies. Adding functional coatings to glass can help improve a building's overall energy efficiency while offering many different aesthetic options, from colorful to neutral, and from more reflective to less reflective. Other techniques can be applied to float glass to alter its appearance, such as acid etching to provide privacy while letting in natural light, or coating to become a high-quality mirror, or bending to inspire new designs

Float glass gets its name from its manufacturing process. Raw materials such as silica sand, soda, lime, potash and recycled glass are melted together in a furnace. The molten glass composition is poured into the molten tin chamber. Since glass is lighter than tin, it floats to the top, forming an even layer on the surface. The glass then undergoes a cooling process, thereby stabilizing and hardening.
High transmittance: The most significant advantage of float glass is that its surface is smooth, transparent, and free of streaks or bubbles. Its light transmittance is usually around 85-90%.
Chemically Inert: Clear float glass is chemically non-reactive and impermeable, making it ideal for applications involving contact with other substances such as food and beverages.
Recyclable: Clear float glass can be recycled many times, making it very environmentally friendly.
Durability: Can be chemically tempered for greater hardness and scratch resistance.
